I was born in Argentina, cattle country. I have a memory of vacationing with my family and stopping at a slaughterhouse. Not the ideal place to take your family on vacation, but my Dad and sister were curious. Upon hearing the animals crying in pain as each one was being crippled by a blow on the head, my Mom had to carry me away as I started to scream and cry. Something about that scene was not right to me, and I was only six or seven years old.
I have always felt a bond with animals, especially horses. Although I have lived in large cities all my life, I managed to find stables where I could go for rides.
Later in life I was introduced to the metaphysical teachings and learned during a guided meditation my totem animal was the ‘Dog’. I also learned that our totem animals can change as we progress and evolve in our spirituality. So, the second time I went into meditation to visit my totem animal, it had changed. I saw a grand, beautiful bald eagle. As it turned its head, I saw on the other side of its face it was burned and scarred. The message being sent was very clear to me; the animals and their environment are in jeopardy due to our population growth, our polluting their natural habitat, and I knew instinctively, it is up to me to help them and try to start making a difference in our world.
I have seen the healing power of animals while volunteering for an organization that uses horses for autistic children. Although some of the kids could not make their feelings known in words, the smiles on their faces was enough to let me know how happy they were while on the horse.
I have continued to read and learn about animals and the messages they bring. I moved to Tucson and one day leafing through the local college’s schedule of classes I saw a class on how to communicate with animals. How exciting for me to find a class like this! I learned that animals communicate telepathically. There are animals that are healers and they are here to help us. When I receive a clue or message from an animal, it is usually sudden. For example, ravens are my favorite messengers. A raven might fly over my house and cry out letting me know something is coming my way. One day I was talking out loud to my Guides and Angels, acknowledging I was prepared to continue forward on a spiritual task I had been thinking about. As soon as I finished stating my desire, I heard a raven call out as it flew over the house letting me know “Got your message loud and clear!”
I have just recently taken a Level One Reiki class and am looking forward to continuing my education and how best I can use this information. My intention is to use my ability and knowledge to help heal animals. They have been teaching me throughout my life and I now feel it is time to give back to them.
